INTRODUCTION
Try and get students really excited about the lesson- hinting that we might get to see a real life Chameleon.
Ask them IF we were to have a Chameleon in our classroom how would we behave? (getting them to be mindful that we have be careful around the Chameleon because it might be frightened, we can’t yell or move around quickly etc).

DEVELOPMENT
Get students to close their eyes and ask them to imagine a real life Chameleon sitting in front of them. Ask students what do you think the Chameleon will look like?
Getting them to draw on their factual knowledge and maybe a bit of their imagination.
Try and get them to use descriptive words to describe colour.
Such as grass green, ocean blue, dirty red, honey yellow…
Ask students what we have learnt so far about Chameleons?
Bring out Chameleon for students to look at. Allow them to each have a close look and verbalise something they have each learnt from looking at the Chameleon that they didn’t know before- once again encouraging them to use descriptive language.
What kind of blue?
What kind of shape?
Is there another word you could use?

CONSOLIDATION AND PRACTICE
Tell students they will now be doing a real life drawing of the Chameleon.
Tell them that you want them to take their time and you want them to fill the whole page with the drawing.
**As it may be hard to get more than one Chameleon for the lesson allow the students to use the schools Ipads to take a picture of the Chameleon and draw from the picture.
_______________________________________________________
CLOSURE
Get the students to pack up and sit on their chairs. Instruct the students to get up and walk around the room so they can see how other students have chosen to draw/paint their Chameleons. They are encouraged to share with one another what they liked about each other’s work. They can then gather on the floor and if they would like to share their comments with the whole class they can.
